Vintage Poppies & Wisteria 1950's Durham quilted jacket
Sustainability starts with the design at Hera Vintage, which is why we design and pattern cut all of our pieces to be dual sized. You can go up or down several dress sizes and your piece still fits and feels fantastic.
Often with quilted textiles there is a rich history to the textile, a history of “make do and mend” a history of upcycling, a history of restoration and repair. This textile is no exception.
Sourced from the North East coastal town of Durham, a town renowned for its rich history of intricately quilted bedspreads, this piece was last updated in the 1950’s with the most exquisite printed cotton depicting poppies, hydrangeas and wisteria florals.
When cutting into the textile the underlayers confirmed earlier use with layers of wool, silk paisley prints dating back to the Victorian era.
Sustainability at its finest.
She has know been fully restored and strengthened with additional hand quilted stitched so she can start her next chapter.
