Vintage Liberty of London butterfly capelet
Created from a combination of Vintage Liberty of London 1970’s curtains and a hand crochet cotton tablecloth this piece is the first of our new “Butterfly capelet” shape.
I designed and pattern cut this shape a few years ago and when sorting through my archives I came across it and just knew it would work really well in the range.
Capes are very special garments, they really are something out of a fairy tale, with this I wanted to create a shape that had all the romance but would also be practical and have a fashion edge so it could be worn back with other items in your wardrobe, hence it is fully sleeved so easy to wear and comes with a pussy bow tie to finish.
This particular piece combines an iconic Liberty of London cotton print which has been upcycled from a pair of curtain pelmets and the sleeve is upcycled from a vintage hand crochet table cloth in ivory.
Please note that on this piece there are slight colour variations on the printed fabric, this is due to the age of the fabric being 50 years old, we do not see these marks as imperfection, but part of the charm has character of this upcycled heirloom piece. Please do reach out if you need any more photographs as we understand this is subjective.
Fit
This piece is designed to be dual sized and will best fit a UK 6-22, this piece is more fitted on the underarm and shoulder point than my usual block so although there is plenty of swish on the hem she does appear less oversized than my jacket block.
The length of this piece finishes at 51 cm / 20 “ from the shoulder point tip to hem, perfect
